CHRIS HENDERSHOT NAMED FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE
FDU-Florham center Chris Hendershot (Vernon, NJ/ Walkill Valley) First Team All-Freedom Conference today, as announced by the conference office.
The former Second Team Junior College All-American starred at Sussex County Community College before joining the Devils this year. He is the first FDU player to be named to the Freedom Conference’s First Team since Harry Vega made it for the 2000-2001 season. Of the ten players honored on the First and Second Teams, Hendershot is the only one from New Jersey.
He led the team in scoring with 16.7 ppg and also in rebounding with 6.8 per game. He ranked fifth in the conference in scoring. (The leader was 18.9 ppg.). He ranked third in the conference in rebounding. Hendershot also ranked third in the conference in shooting percentage at 62.7 percent. His free throw percentage of 73.8 also ranked third in the conference.
He scored 20 or more points on eight occasions this season and broke 30 twice, scoring 36 at Hunter and 35 against Scranton. He also posted five double-doubles. He pulled down 16 rebounds against DeSales, who finished first in the Freedom Conference.
