Waters was an outstanding two sport athlete from 1983-87. Named
FDU's Athlete of the Year in 1986-87, Waters played both women's
basketball and softball. She was named First Team All -WIAC in
1984-85 and 1986-87 and received Honorable Mention in 1985-86
for basketball. She was also selected First Team All-MAC in 1985-86
and 1986-87 and was honored as the team MVP in 1986-87. Waters
is the third all-time leading scorer with 1,393 points and owns
the third highest scoring average in school history at 15.6 points
per game. She also ranks seventh on the career assist list with
194 and is fourth on the career field goals made list with 500.
During her career, Waters shot .478 which is the fifth best in
FDU history. She made 377 free throws to rank second on the career
list and is the career leader with a .788 free throw percentage.
In 1985-86 season, Waters scored 430 points, which ranks her
fifth all-time. Her average of 18.3 points per game in 1986-87
is seventh highest season scoring average. From the free throw
line, Waters shot .815 in the 1983-84 season, second highest
percentage in a single season. Her softball play also won her
acclaim. She was named to the Women's All Star Team three times,
in 1985, 1986 and 1987. She was selected team captain in 1987,
the same year she was selected team MVP. |
