| Ted
Bruning played for the Devils in both lacrosse and basketball
from 1965 to 1969. He was named FDU's Athlete of the Year in
1968-69. In 1968 and again in 1969, he received All-American
honors for men's lacrosse as a defender. Also in 1969 he was
selected to play in the prestigious North-South game for lacrosse,
the first FDU athlete selected. Bruning also holds several men's
basketball records. He currently ranks tenth with 1,247 points
on the all-time career scoring list and owns the sixth highest
career free throw percentage with a .735 mark. In the 1966/67
season, he shot .802 in free throws, which places him eighth
on the single season record. He is also ranked tenth in career
field goals made with 504. After graduation, Ted returned as
men's lax coach, and has the second highest amount of victories
with a 70-61 list. He guided FDU to the ECAC finals in 1974 and
the NCAA tournament in 1976 and 1981. Ted is the only coach in
FDU lacrosse history to lead his team to the NCAA's. |
