| Kimberly Rears tended goal for FDU's field hockey
team from 1986-1990, earning second team All-Region Honors in
1990. She made First Team All-Middle Atlantic Conference and
was named team MVP in 1987 and 1990. Her 389 career saves ranks
third on FDU's all-time list. She made 150 saves in 1986, the
third-best single season mark in FDU history. Rears owns the
second-highest career save percentage in school history at .890.
She has the second, third, and ninth spots on the single-season
save percentage list (.909 in 1986, .907 in 1990, and .891 in
1987). Her 3,115 career minutes in the cage ranks first in FDU
history. She holds the single-season mark for minutes with 1,290
as well as spots number eight (910 in 1987) and nine (774 in
1991). Horn came back to FDU and earned her masters degree in
teaching. She also served as an assistant coach for the field
hockey team, working with the goalies. In 1997, she served as
the head coach. Horn now teaches third grade at Great Fall Elementary
school in Fairfax County, Virginia. She and her husband Tom live
in Fairfax. |
