Madison, NJ - After three tough losses, the Devils were
finally able to put it all together today. The FDU offense took
advantage of its opportunities, scoring a season-high 24 points,
while the Devil defense held Albright to three, the lowest total
of an opponent this year.
In Albright's first series, FDU's Frank Nolasco (Manalapan,
NJ) blocked the Lions punt at the Albright 30 yard line. The Devils
picked it up at the 12 and on the third play Aaron Manus
(Hightstown, NJ) punched through on a one-yard run for a Devils
touchdown at 11:23.
Rich Dwyer (New Providence, NJ)put a field goal in and
FDU led 10-0 at the end of the first quarter. Albright was able
to connect on a field goal in the second, but Joe Johnson
(Hackettstown ,NJ) ran the kickoff back 85 yards for the touchdown.
The half ended with FDU leading 17-3.
The Devils scored once more, as Aaron Manus ran two yards for
his second TD. Mike Ortiz (Weehawkin, NJ) had just capped
off a fabulous day - 11 tackles, 3.5 sacks - by intercepting a
pass from Lion QB Tom Moon, and the Devils turned it into a 2
yard scoring drive.
Freshman QB Phil Revien (Huntington, NY) threw for 139
yards on 9-for-21 passing. Mike Quigley (Manalapan, NJ)
caught three of those passes for 77 yards.
Defensively, Anthony Gagliardo (East Stroudsburg,PA) recovered
a Lion fumble for a nine-yard return and Dave Dondero made his
third interception of the year.
Dwyer went 1-for-2 on field goals, hitting a 27-yarder and was
a perfect 3-for-3 on PAT's.
