Football
We tested the returners in the clean, squat, and flat bench. The rookies all tested in the bench, and a few (who knew how) squat tested as well. We won't let them test in the clean until they've been taught how. As expected, our "advanced" guys were all in top shape. The enlightened team members are training 6 times during camp, and then begin training two times a week in season. This year, we'll be using the conjugate method in season, and we'll be completing 6 two week cycles. Each workout, we'll be completing a max effort exercise, as well as a dynamic exercise. Other special assitance exercises will be utilized as well., and we'll be keeping the volume relatively light, with intensities at 70% and above. The guys will be in and out of the weight room in an hour. I'm sure that they will be in excellent shape throughout the season, and many players will get stronger!
Women's Soccer
We began training again when camp started. We'll be going two times a week until the season ends.
Men's Basketball
Basketball resumes training the second week in September. We'll be introducing them to the conjugate method as well, for the players who are ready for it.
Women's Lacrosse
They'll be starting the second week in September, getting ready for a big year!
Field Hockey
This group started when they returned to camp. They too wll be going two days a week throughout the season.
Women's Basketball
This team is going through a coaching change. We look forward to working with the new staff soon.
Volleyball
This group began the first week in September. The "enlightened" team members will be going with us two times a week through the season.
OTHER NEWS
- The Football Strength& Conditioning Athlete of the Year goes to both Scott Bohonyi and Paul Koontz. This was the closest race we've ever had, and picking these two was extremely difficult. At least six guys were serious candidates. Scott and Paul exemplified the committment needed to become champions on the field. Congratulations to both!!
